Final Report: Train Derailment near Java, MT (Hi Line Subdivision)

On Saturday, October 12 at approximately 06:42 a.m. CDT, we received a preliminary report of a train derailment near Java, MT, which has affected both main tracks. Java, MT is approximately 70 miles east of Whitefish, MT. BNSF field personnel has assessed the site, and repairs are underway. Main track one was returned to service on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at 00:01 a.m. CDT. Main track two was returned to service on Monday, October 14, 2024, at 00:35 a.m. CDT.
